Sunday Morning

Sunday Morning, originally uploaded by Lily-Wren.

"Sunday morning, praise the dawning
It's just a restless feeling by my side
Early dawning, sunday morning
It's just the wasted years so close behind

Watch out, the world's behind you
There's always someone around you who will call
It's nothing at all"

I had to be really quick to get this capture and time it just as the guy was walking between the posts. I was quite a bit away and also walking in the opposite direction so it was one of those 'turn around, see the guy, hurry up, press button quick' moments!

I quite like the lines of the posts contrasting with the horizontal lines of the bench, roof and ground.

A photograph that probably doesn't say much but one I quite like all the same!

The Spider & The Fly

The Spider & The Fly, originally uploaded by Lily-Wren.

'I'm sure you must be weary, dear, with soaring up so high;
Will you rest upon my little bed?' said the Spider to the Fly.
'There are pretty curtains drawn around, the sheets are fine and thin;
And if you like to rest awhile, I'll snugly tuck you in!'
'Oh no, no,' said the little Fly, 'for I've often heard it said,
They never, never wake again, who sleep upon your bed!'

Taken from 'The Spider and the Fly" by Mary Howitt.

Oh dear, poor Felix the fly. This spider is camped out on my window outside. The web, like the spider, is massive but the light and position means I am having to think carefully on how to capture the full web, and do it justice. Poor flies stand no chance against Horace...

Stark Reality

Stark Reality, originally uploaded by Lily-Wren.

."Nature does not hurry, yet everything is accomplished." - Lao Tzu

This was taken on the road as we were passing Lake Mille Lacs in MN. The whole Lake was frozen so the 'water' you see in the background is in fact ice. The whole area had an 'otherworldy' feel. Miles and miles of ice where there should be lake and then this solitary tree at the lakeside.

My battery was going, the car was flying by and my chap has an adverse reaction to stopping the car once it is in motion. So the quality is as it is, however, given the surreal land/ice scape, I thought it was quite fitting!

I have converted to B & W and give it the high contrast treatment I like so much. No where near a perfect photograph but that is not the effect that I wanted.
